Today, FIDA-Kenya hosted members of the Bavarian State Parliament Social Committee to discuss the organisation’s efforts to improve access to justice, engage in policy advocacy, and protect women and children in Kenya. The delegation was led by Ms. Doris Rauscher, Chairwoman of the Social Committee. Officials from the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa (AHK Eastern Africa) also attended.
At the meeting, FIDA-Kenya’s Deputy Executive Director, Ms. Janet Anyango, explained the organisation’s mission and highlighted its legal aid, psychosocial support, and advocacy programs. The group discussed ways to address gender-based violence, including femicide, and talked about measures taken with partners to help keep survivors safe and ensure they continue to get support after court decisions.
The delegation explored ways to collaborate and expressed interest in supporting FIDA-Kenya’s programs. As a gesture of goodwill, they gave the organisation a souvenir from the Bavarian State Parliament.
FIDA-Kenya’s Executive Director Ms. Sophie Kaibiria, and members of the secretariat also attended the meeting.
