NEWSLETTER: AWESOME January to June 2024 Bi-Annual Newsletter

The past six months have marked a period of transformative progress for the AWESOME Project as FIDA-Kenya continued to push the boundaries of justice, gender equality, and community empowerment. The organization conducted strategic engagements and sustained advocacy that yielded significant results. A key highlight of these achievements was the successful involvement of university students as active partners in advancing gender equality and combating gender-based violence (GBV).

In furtherance of FIDA-Kenya’s advocacy for equitable representation, the organization played a central role in supporting the finalization of the report of the multi-sectoral working group on realizing the two-thirds gender principle. It was also instrumental in facilitating the development of the Civil Society Implementation, Monitoring, and Evaluation Framework on electoral reforms for special interest groups, a tool currently in use as the organization prepares for the 2027 elections.

Sadly, femicide has been a troubling issue for the nation. The organization has maintained strong lobbying efforts targeting duty bearers and the media to help address this growing societal problem. The lessons from this period are invaluable. With renewed commitment, strategic focus, and strengthened partnerships, FIDA-Kenya will remain a powerful force in shaping a just, equitable, and inclusive society.
