Women and Governance

In 2010, Kenyans voted for a Constitution that provides that not more than 2/3rds of the members of any appointive or elective public bodies shall be of the same gender.

Currently women in Kenya are under-represented in both appointive and elective positions. The Supreme Court also directed that the government puts in place legislation to realize the 2/3rds gender principle by the 27th of August.
